Hair Love
Hair Love
Hair Love is a short Sony Pictures animation that I found while on Twitter. It is interesting that there is nearly no verbal communication between the characters so the story relies heavily on the characterization and facial expression of each character. Moreover, I appreciated that the animation tells a narrative that is not often represented in film or animation. The film was produced by Matthew A. Cherry, who is a Black filmmaker. This animation is a prime example of how meaningful and nuanced stories can be when people from marginalized communities are given a seat at the table in the creative/media industry, especially at such a huge entertainment company like Sony Pictures.
