Penelope Umbrico's "Suns from Sunsets" --Reusing Images in Art
The "Visual Remix" article we read this week references Umbrico's work, where she takes seemingly unremarkable sun photos from Flickr and compiles them into large-scale collages. I realized I had seen her work at a gallery in New York earlier this year (where I took this photo). Her work provides interesting commentary on the omnipresence of documentation and photography in our world. I also love how she takes sunset photos, which almost everyone has likely taken at one point or another, but assembles them in a way that makes it more visually interesting than any one sunset photo could be on its own.
